Michael says that beyond his work in academic reference services, he “handles the care and feeding of ten reference librarians, and works with the library's preservation committee to create our first comprehensive preservation program.” While keeping current on his research and studies, he is also reading David Lowenthal's The Past is a Foreign Country and re-reading Andre Norton's Witch World series (a little nostalgia from his youth).

Currently Michael is working on a preservation brief on the preservation of Carnegie Library buildings remaining in North Carolina. “There are six of the original ten public library buildings still standing,” he states, “and to date I have found for academic library buildings. Anyone know of additional academic Carnegie Libraries still standing?”
