"History for All the People"

Logo for the Centennial Celebration of the State Archives of North Carolina, North Carolina Office of Archives and History, March 2003.
Created by Michael T. Southern , State Historic Preservation Office.

"History for All the People" is the theme for the March 2003 Centennial Celebration of the anniversary of the establishment of the North Carolina Historical Commission. The symbol for the logo is the 1840 State Capitol building, prominently featuring the portico and dome. Creator Michael T. Southern suggests that the State Capitol, an easily recognizable symbol for all North Carolinians, best represents the pride in North Carolina history and culture shared by the Office of Archives and History and all North Carolina agencies.
