Journal for the Society of North Carolina Archivists


Manuscript Submission and Preparation

The Journal accepts a range of articles related to the research, study, theory, or practice in the archival professions.

All members of the archival community, including students and independent researchers, are welcome to submit articles and reviews. Contributors need not be members of SNCA or live in the state of North Carolina.

Electronic copy via email attachment will be requested for accepted articles.

Please submit original, unpublished manuscripts only. The Journal will not reprint or republish articles submitted and accepted by other publications. If the article was presented at a conference, please supply the name and date of the conference on the cover page.

Submissions should be no longer than 30 pages or 7500 words, including citations.

On the cover page, please provide a title for the article as well as the author(s)'s names, position(s), institutional affiliation(s), and business address(es). No other page of the manuscript should have the author's name on it.

On the second page, please provide a title, a brief abstract of the article, and a brief biographical statement for the author(s). Please do not put author(s)'s names on the second and subsequent pages.

Please number all pages of the manuscript.

All citations should follow the text on a separate page(s) (i.e., endnotes).

Digital images, tables and charts are welcome, but please note that the Journal is published in black and white and image quality tends to be low.

All accepted manuscripts citations will conform to Chicago Manual of Style 15th edition. Please consult the Chicago Manual for citations, capitalization, abbreviations, numbers, and other grammatical uses.
