SNCA to host Dennis Meissner for Keynote Address and SAA "MPLP" Workshop
We are pleased to announce that Dennis Meissner will open our spring meeting with a keynote speech. Mr. Meissner is the Head of Collections Management at the Minnesota Historical Society, and one of the authors of the 2005 article "More Product, Less Process: Revamping Traditional Archival Processing." We are excited to be hosting a speaker who has done so much to provoke a rethinking of fundamental archival processes. We hope that Mr. Meissner's speech will provoke conversations across North Carolina about backlogs and priorities and how we all handle the day-to-day challenges of caring for ever-growing collections.
This speech is made possible by a grant from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Workshop:
SNCA is also hosting a workshop in cooperation with the Society of American Archivists to complement Mr. Meissner's speech.
Implementing "More Product, Less Process"
- March 3, Little Hall, Sandhills Community College, Pinehurst, NC
- Instructor: Daniel A. Santamaria, Assistant University Archivist for Technical Services at the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library at Princeton University
