This year SNCA will be holding a day long annual conference at North Carolina State University's McKimmon Center on April 8, 2014. Sarah Koonts, the State Archivist, will be our keynote speaker. Click here to view the conference program.
The theme of this year’s conference is Connect, Create, and Celebrate: Archives in the 21st Century.
This year's pre-conference workshop will be On Display: Basic Exhibits for Librarians, led by Linda Jacobson, Keeper, North Carolina Collection Gallery, UNC-CH; Rachel Reynolds, Wilson Special Collections Library Exhibits Curator, UNC-CH; and Andrea Knowlton, Conservator, Wilson Special Collections Library, UNC-CH. This workshop is designed for archivists who would like to learn the basics of exhibit planning, design, and fabrication. Topics that will be covered include selecting and narrowing the focus of a topic, physical layout and organization, exhibit labels, conservation issues related to the display of original materials, and the fabrication and installation of exhibit components. Participants will have the opportunity to fabricate simple exhibit elements. For more information on the pre-conference workshop, click here.
We will also be hosting a social after the April 7th workshop. We hope you'll join us!
Additionally, there will be an SAA workshop on April 7 at Wilson Library, UNC Chapel Hill. The workshop is Encoded Archival Context-Corporate bodies, Persons, and Families (EAC-CPF). This workshop has no affiliation with the SNCA conference.
Registration for the 2014 SNCA conference is now closed.
