SNCA/SCAA Joint Conference
March 30-April 1, 2011
Crystal Coast Civic Center, Morehead City, North Carolina
Program – 2011 (PDF)
This year’s program committee has been very busy planning the 2011 conference, which promises to be one of SNCA’s best ever! Please mark your calendar for March 30 through April 1 – a later than usual meeting date we hope will avoid more conflicts and promise warmer weather – or at least no snow! SNCA will be meeting at the Crystal Coast Civic Center, which is located on the waterfront of Bogue Sound in Morehead City, N.C. This facility on the campus of the Carteret Community College offers great views, plentiful parking, and the potential of enjoying warm sea breezes during our breaks! Furthermore, a block of rooms has been secured at the nearby Hampton Inn, also located on the waterfront, and also a great location for those of you who would like to bring your family and enjoy a weekend at the beach.
In addition to pre-conference workshops Wednesday, March 30, followed by a half of professional development programming on Thursday afternoon and Friday, our planned activities include a reception at the North Carolina Maritime Museum Thursday evening and a tour of Fort Macon on Thursday morning. A full program will be posted in January, and conference and hotel registration will open February 1, 2011.
We are extremely excited to announce that the South Carolina Archival Association (SCAA) will be joining us for this joint meeting. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that this year’s programming will focus on the theme of collaboration – not only between our two professional organizations, but between institutions, within institutions, and using all the tools that modern technology offers.
If you have any suggestions or questions about this year’s conference, please contact any SNCA representative on the programming committee: Cat McDowell (chair, catmcdowell@hotmail.com), Jan Blodgett, Lynn Eaton, Pam Mitchem, Simms Toomey, Maggie Dickson, and Ray Price.
