East Carolina University’s Laupus Health Sciences Library welcomes a new Archivist, Layne Carpenter. She began work in the library’s History Collections on October 2.
Her work at the library includes analyzing, describing, researching, preserving, curating, and exhibiting the archival and manuscript collections of the Laupus Library History Collections and the Country Doctor Museum. Her work also includes providing reference assistance to patrons, coordinating promotion of History Collections events and exhibits, and managing the fourth floor gallery exhibit and event space.
Prior to joining Laupus Library, Layne served as the North Carolina Public Periodicals Index Manager at Joyner Library where she also installed exhibits and worked on special events including co-planning activities for the Country Doctor Museum’s Sick Room Exhibit. She’s also worked at the NASCAR Hall of Fame and was a docent for the Blennerhassett Mansion in West Virginia. Layne has a Master of Arts in History with a concentration in Public History from UNC Charlotte and a BA in History from Westminster College in Pennsylvania.
